The people, source materials and AI assistance behind this website, with responsibility for final review made explicit.

AI-assisted writing and illustrative ideas are distinguished from measured results. The editing process does not create experiment records, participant responses or evidence of completed directed evolution. We disclose these uses in accordance with the iDEC AI policy.

The GutSentry mark and signal-atlas illustration are original SVG artwork created with AI-assisted coding for this website. They are conceptual illustrations, not microscopy or experimental images. The learning lab uses deliberately invented scores to explain how evaluation criteria affect a ranking; these scores are not project data. The interactive AND gate explains an idealised logical rule and is not a fitted biological model.

Photographs, documents and reuse

Activity photographs and adapted PDF documents are hosted with this website; source attribution is retained. The Inclusivity and Entrepreneurship chapters provide reusable guides and planning documents. Historical photographs retain their original content. Downloadable documents are labelled as iDEC adaptations for reference and planning; they do not establish completed activities, approvals or validated project claims.

The original LZU-CHINA website content is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International. We credit the LZU-CHINA 2026 team and retain the source repository as the provenance record. Adaptations include iDEC-focused framing, navigation and presentation.

Cartoon illustrations

Four AI-generated cartoon illustrations accompany the project story, learning lab, education and inclusivity introductions. Created using OpenAI’s built-in image generation tool, they use microbe mascots, environmental selection and branching diversity as conceptual teaching imagery. They do not represent experimental evidence, actual participants or a reconstructed phylogeny. Each has an adjacent caption and text alternative. Original outreach photographs are retained separately.

The Integrated Human Practices page adapts our “Building the iDEC Community: Advancing Directed Evolution Through Integrated Human Practices” report, including its activity counts, stakeholder feedback and selected illustrations. Conceptual diagrams describe intended designs, and market figures retain their planning status.
